Job Summary

The Graduate Trainee - Electrical will undergo a structured development program designed to provide comprehensive exposure to various aspects of electrical engineering within the organization. This role offers hands-on experience in electrical operations, maintenance, projects, and compliance. The trainee will work closely with experienced engineers and technicians, contributing to the efficient and safe functioning of electrical systems and equipment, while developing foundational skills for a career in the field.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

  • Generate and process various operational requests (e.g., work orders, material requisitions) and accurately document completed job tasks and activities using computer-based systems and relevant software (e.g., Microsoft Excel,ERP).
  • Participate actively in all assigned training modules and programs related to electrical engineering.
  • Assist in the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of various electrical equipment, machinery, and systems (e.g., generators, switchgear, motors, wiring).
  • Learn to read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Support senior engineers and technicians in the execution of electrical projects, installations, and upgrades.
  • Conduct regular checks and routine maintenance tasks on electrical installations.
  • Ensure strict adherence to all company safety standards, electrical safety regulations, and operational procedures.
  • Assist in the calibration and testing of electrical instruments.
  • Document work performed, prepare basic reports, and maintain accurate records of electrical activities using computer software.
  • Identify and report any electrical faults, hazards, or potential issues promptly.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve technical challenges and improve electrical system performance.
  • Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.

Requirements

The Person:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.Eng/B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering or Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a recognized institution.
  • Must be a recent graduate with NYSC discharge certificate or exemption letter.
  • Female for Gender balance
  • Good knowledge of electrical equipment, tools, and principles is essential.
  • Strong computer skills, especially proficiency in Microsoft Excel, are required.
  • Basic understanding of electrical safety procedures and precautions.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Eagerness to learn, proactive, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and processes quickly.
